Summary: | This article discusses how were created, in the Court of Rio de Janeiro, the conditions for the construction of a project of independence and Empire in Brazil at the beginning of the 19th century, focusing on in the internal conflicts in the city itself. From the discussion of the splits that have occurred in it since 1808 with the installation of the Portuguese Royal Family in American territories, we want to show how that process contributed to the formation of a new Court in America as well as the success of the alternative monarchist; which was projected to the other provinces of Brazil even if this unit was not guaranteed. |
