| Summary: | Traditional fabrication methods for Mn-Zn ferrite powders, such as compression molding, constrain the design flexibility of customized soft magnetic cores. In this study, a multi-nozzle slurry-based printing technique is applied to commercially available Mn-Zn ferrite powders. A small amount of CaO (0.5 wt%) and SiO2 (0.05 wt%) is introduced as sintering additives to modify grain boundary phases, enhance electrical resistivity, and reduce porosity. Optimal microstructure and magnetic properties were achieved through sintering at 1200°C under tailored thermal treatment conditions. Key magnetic parameters—including initial permeability, saturation magnetization, and core loss—were systematically characterized. Based on these findings, a modified Mn-Zn ferrite core was designed and fabricated using the proposed composite additive manufacturing method. The resulting core integrates thermal management features with enhanced magnetic performance, providing an effective design strategy for integrated planar inductors. A physical prototype of the additively manufactured composite inductor was fabricated and experimentally validated, confirming the feasibility of achieving magneto-thermal optimization through this approach. |
