Summary: | In order to investigate the effect of BAR gene on rice, the characteristics of inheritance, physiology and agriculture of 4 BAR-transgenic rice (Bengal HU-10, Bengal HC-11, Cypress PB-6, Cypress PB-13) were studied. The results indicated that the resistance of this 4 BAR-transgenic rice to herbicide (Liberty) was controlled by a single dominant nuclear gene. The inserted locus of BAR gene and agricultural properties including plant height, growth period and grain number per panicle were different among the 4 BAR-transgenic rice. There were no evident differences in chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence and glutamine synthetase activity etc in leaves between BAR-transgenic rice and the original parents. However, the above physiological characters changed significantly and were significantly different between each BAR-transgenic rice in leaves 2 days later after spraying Liberty. The above results showed that the change of physiological characters was related to the inserted locus of BAR gene. |
