Theoretically Analyzed Optical Property of Silver Nanowire on a SiO2 Layer

description We demonstrate a silver nanowire (AgNW) grating placed on a SiO2 layer. Comparing with the transmission spectra of the AgNW grating or the SiO2 layer only, an obvious transmission dip is observed in our proposed structure. The transmission dip is caused by the period induced effects (PIE). Then, we investigate the physical mechanism of the PIE phenomenon through analyzing the electric field distribution. At last, we can find that the quality factor of the transmission dip decreases as the radius r increases, and the transmission spectrum shows red shift when the period P increases. Our research may provide guidance for the fundamental research of the plasmonic nanowire grating applications.
