Summary: | Introduction. Known variants of the classification of diving diseases are fragmentarily used in the development of specialized regulatory documents for diving units in terms of regulating medical tasks during diving descents without explaining the specificity of the development of pathology, which does not fully meet the needs of medical support for diving work.
The purpose of the study was to improve the classification of possible diving diseases by means of etio-pathogenetic characteristics of specificity, taking into account modern conditions for performing underwater work and scientific achievements in the medical and physiological field.
Materials and methods. The study used methods of semantic analysis, personal experience of medical support of diving descents, bibliographic research and description of electronic resources.
Results of the study. The reliability of medical support for diving descents and the preservation of the physical health of diving specialists, especially in wartime conditions, directly depends on the technologies of life support for a diver's stay under water and medical and physiological knowledge of the problems caused by the effects of hyperbaric and combat stress factors on a person. Improving medical support and preserving the health of divers has a preventive focus and is based on the use of known pathogenetic mechanisms of the development of specific diseases and the features of the biological effect on the body of numerous factors of the underwater hyperbaric environment. Planning the effectiveness of medical measures and developing protocols for providing medical care and treatment largely depend on the presence of a clear system for structuring specific diseases of divers, taking into account the etiology and pathogenetic mechanisms of pathology development.
Conclusions. Based on the factorial-etiological-pathogenetic structure of the sequence of pathology among diving specialists, an improved version of the classification of divers' diseases has been proposed and advanced scientific achievements have been used to determine the criteria for diagnosis, assessment, prevention and treatment of specific disorders due to the stressful effects of underwater hyperbaric conditions. An improved classification of diving diseases can be introduced into the practical activities of personnel providing medical support to a contingent of specialists involved in work in an underwater hyperbaric environment.
