Description
Summary:This paper dwells on the Nigerian Civil War. It argues that conflicts and crises usually emanate from society as a result of competition over scarce resources. It espouses the contending schools of thought on the Nigerian Civil War with specific attention to the colonial school of thought, the genocidal/religious school of thought, the dominion school of thought, and the economic school of thought. Besides, the paper analyses the debilitating effects of the Nigerian civil war. It concludes that the internecine war has negatively affected the Nigerian State in all areas of life. In this wise, the study notes that all the conflicts that have the tendency of degenerating into war should be properly manage in other to prevent a second civil war in the country.
