description The effects of fertilization on the tomato growth and environment in hilly region were studied based on good agriculture practice (GAP). Results showed that the different chemical fertilizer treatment and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer treatment could increase the yield of tomato compared with the conventional fertilization treatment, and also improve tomato's Vc and soluble sugar content. The highest yield of tomato was obtained under the organic-inorganic compound fertilizer treatment, which was increased by 13.1% compared with the conventional fertilization treatment. The different fertilization practices could reduce the surface runoff and the soil runoff loss by 10.2% -54.1% and 55.9% -78.9%, respectively, compared with conventional fertilization treatment during raining period. The losses of the inorganic nitrogen and water soluble phosphorus in the surface runoff were declined by 57.2% -96.2% and 80.3% -91.3%. The losses of nitrogen and phosphorus in the runoff soil were declined by 49.5% -89.1% and 53.4% -78.9%, respectively. Input-output ratios of fertilizer in the two chemical fertilization treatments were significantly higher than those in organic-inorganic compound fertilizer and conventional fertilization treatments.
