Description
Summary:Purpose. To provide an assessment of the temperature and oxygen regimes, considering the main chemical parameters of water when creating replacement and brood stocks of Antoniny-Zozulenets carps grown in the conditions of PrJSC “Khmelnytskrybhosp”. Methodology. The study was conducted during 2018–2023 at fish sites “Stara Synyava” and “Medzhibizh” of PrJSC “Khmelnytskrybhosp” of Khmelnytskyi region. The source of water supply for the experimental farm “Stara Synyava” is the Ikva River, for the experimental farm “Medzhibizh” – the Buzhok River. Determination of temperature and dissolved oxygen content in water was carried out directly at the sampling site and was determined using a thermooximeter twice a day, with subsequent derivation of average daily values. Chemical analysis of pond water was performed in a certified ecological research laboratory of the Institute of Fisheries of the NAAS in accordance with generally accepted methods in hydrochemistry. Studies of the chemical composition of water in the experimental ponds were carried out once a month for the purpose of background control throughout the entire cultivation period. Water quality was assessed in accordance with general requirements and standards in fish farming – SOU 05.01-37-385:2006. Findings. It was found that the average duration of wintering during the study period was 153 days, with the average monthly water temperature ranging from 1.4 to 10.6°C, and the dissolved oxygen content ranging from 4.1–9.1 mg O2/dm3. The growing season for older age groups averaged 194 to 231 days and it was 145–146 days for age-0+ fish. Maximum temperatures were reached in the summer months with average monthly fluctuations ranging from 21.8 to 24.5°C, with a peak in July. In the autumn and spring periods, the average monthly temperature values did not fall below 6°C, and the dissolved oxygen content was 3.2 mg O2/dm3. The water of the experimental ponds was slightly alkaline in nature and belonged to the hydrocarbonate class (HCO3- content – 206.0–268.5 mg/dm3) with a predominance of calcium ions (32.1–58.8 mg/dm3). The main chemical parameters were within the regulatory values, however, deviations from the standards were observed in iron content (average 1.54 with SD 1.0) and a wide range of fluctuations between the experimental seasons in the content of sulfates, bichromate and permanganate oxidations. Originality. For the first time, a comprehensive assessment of the current chemical composition of water in the ponds of PrJSC “Khmelnytskrybhosp” was analyzed and conducted during the cultivation of different age categories of the brood stock of Antoniny-Zozulenets carps. Practical Value. The results obtained are necessary to establish the possibilities of using the fish ponds of PrJSC “Khmelnytskrybhosp” for growing and maintaining different age categories of the brood stock of Antoniny-Zozulenets carps.
