Description
Summary:The study of the sociability of the old regime takes the house as its main territorial expression. At the same time, the house was the main space of sociability and contact in the city at a time when public and private were not clearly distinguished politically or socially. We have attempted a typology of domestic communities, distinguishing the internal composition of the houses inhabited by families of neighbors, as well as the casas de indios. Finally, we try to characterize the relationships that are established in multiple concurrence outdoor, in public places. Our hypothesis is that the system focused on the family and the house was the cause and justification of a home-based social power. This domestic authority faced with new spaces, of public properties, which are beyond its traditional power and that it was necessary to manage through a new police function. Thus, by the end of the century a public space but also a new urban public was being constructed.
