Description
Summary:The article analyzes the trade effects of the creation ofthe Eurasian Economic Union and determines the economic consequences for the participating countries within the framework of the preferential instruments of customs and tariff policy used. The hypothesis of the influence of mutual protectionism on the effectiveness of the functioning of the integration association is tested. The results showed that the use of mutual protectionism instruments in relation to sectors of the economy that were previously not sufficiently protected in the markets of the participating countries became more competitive in price parameters due to the increase in customs duty rates, there was also a decrease in trade costs due to the uniication of non-tariff barriers, which increased the attractiveness of national markets for foreign companies, since the magnitude of the resulting positive effect exceeded the damage caused by the increase in customs duty rates.
