Summary:The article deals with the students’ social adaptation to (integration into) university educational environment (setting). Students’ social integration into university educational setting is defined as a complex, multi-aspect phenomenon caused by the lack of consistency of operations between school and higher levels of education. The author points out three common ways to determine the notion of students’ social adaptation through such notions as “need, necessity”, “adjustment” and “interaction”. The article gives the key elements of students’ social adaptation: structure, mechanisms, criteria, stages and kinds. The author specifies criteria of students’ social adaptation based on the main students’ spheres of activity in the university educational environment.
