| Item Description: | In the palace of the King of Tonga, a judge signs documents for a royal wedding. A baron's daughter is to marry a prince but this is not the outcome of a fairytale romance, it is an arranged marriage and it represents a strengthening of ties between families of the nobility. Music and dancing will fill a week of celebration but like traditional weeding virtually everywhere in the Pacific, this one is concerned with status, and at its heart will be the ceremonial exchange of property. |
