| Item Description: | Inside the London Planetarium is a representation of the night sky. At the cente of the auditorium is a complicated projector that throws pinpoints of light showing satellites, stars, planets, and nebulae onto the inside of the domed roof. This amazing machine has twenty-nine thousand parts, it's got two hundred optical devices that can project 8900 stars onto the huge screen. The projector is simply an optical device throwing patterns of light onto the dome. In a similiar way, a computer can control which spots to light up on a television screen to produce a picture. |
