Description
Item Description:Starting with high strength carbon steel billets, presses like the Erie cold extrusion presses can make hundreds of parts per hour with practically no waste resulting in many dollars of material savings. Moreover, additional savings are realised since cold extruded parts require less machining. In this process, a lubricated billet of cold steel is actually extruded through a series of dies under very high pressure. Steel which is worked cold in this way without preheating meets strength requirements better than hot-forged steel. The cold working improves the mechanical properties of the steel and frequently less expensive grades can be used and still meet requirements.
